Headstart is a recruiting platform that uses Machine Learning, contextual and predictive algorithms specifically, to help companies identify the best-suited candidates in the shortest amount of time and match students with best-fit job opportunities at a large range of companies.
In 2017, Headstart was ranked one of the most disruptive companies in the UK by Real Business.

The Headstart Process
Headstart uses machine learning and psychographic analysis to replace the Resume Screen, through allowing students to build a profile, a detailed 'fingerprint', in less than 20 minutes. This 'fingerprint' displays personality, interests, skills, CV data and preferences. The Headstart Applicant Matching System (AMS) then maps that onto the hiring criteria of hundreds of companies, by integrating with existing corporate recruitment systems, and predicts the suitability of the candidates, whilst using machine learning algorithms to learn from hiring data. It then recommends the best-fit job opportunities for candidates, and creates a ranked list of candidates for each company, taking into consideration culture and job role criteria.
The AMS allows candidates to connect with businesses, big and small, through a simple, personalised, re-usable application form, helping companies move away from experience/qualification driven screening, towards a more inclusive, effective process that considers personality, behaviours, strengths and motivations as well.

History
British entrepreneurs Nicholas Shekerdemian (part of the Thiel Fellowship programme and selected as the top Young Entrepreneur by Startups UK ) and Jeremy Hindle (founder of Omnigon Games, which was sold to Jagex ) founded Headstart in 2015 because they were both frustrated with the application process on a personal level. Nick found the majority of application forms unrepresentative and time-consuming; he realised that he was constantly trying to fit in with his anticipation of how a company would like him to be, as opposed to filling out the form with an accurate representation of his personality and interests. Jeremy felt a similar frustration, leaving university with a highly-desirable degree in Neuroscience having originally wanted to go into medicine. He had been coding for 8 years and was running a 35,000 WAU minecraft community. He had no idea what he could do given the disparity between his qualifications and his skills, and needed a platform like Headstart to show him some direction.
In June 2017, Headstart received seed funding from Y Combinator.
